Kryptobank Erebor godkendt til betinget føderal banklicens af OCC

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has granted conditional national bank status to Erebor Bank, a new tech-oriented bank seeking to rise into the gap left by the collapse of several such lenders in 2023.
OCC Grants Charter to Erebor Bank
The OCC chief noted that this move should demonstrate how open the regulator is to digital assets activity in its regulated banks. "Permissible digital asset activities, like any other legally permissible banking activity, have a place in the federal banking system," he said.
Erebor Bank's Conditional Charter
Erebor Bank can operate as a national bank in the U.S., according to the charter approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. This marks the first new-bank charter granted during the current OCC leadership's tenure.
Digital Assets and Banking
The OCC's decision signals a willingness to accommodate digital asset activities within the federal banking system, provided they are legally permissible. This approach aims to balance innovation with regulatory oversight.
