Kryptobank Erebor godkjent for betinget føderal bankkonsesjon av OCC

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted a conditional national bank charter to Erebor Bank, a new institution focused on technology and digital assets. This marks the first new bank charter issued under the current OCC leadership.
OCC's Stance on Digital Assets
OCC chief Jonathan Gould stated that this approval demonstrates the agency's openness to digital asset activities within regulated banks. He emphasized that permissible digital asset activities have a place in the federal banking system, provided they are conducted responsibly and within regulatory frameworks.
Erebor Bank's Charter
The conditional charter allows Erebor Bank to operate as a national bank in the U.S. This development comes after the failures of several banks in 2023, including Silicon Valley Bank, which had significant exposure to the technology and crypto sectors. The OCC's decision suggests a willingness to adapt to evolving financial landscapes while maintaining regulatory oversight.
